So he's already quit one religious position because of old age, and they picked him to replace the last dude that quit because of old age?

If I was a catholic I'd be upset, but now it's just funny.
 
Basically they figured things were so screwed up at the Vatican they had to bring in an outsider.

The new guy better watch his tea very carefully.
 
lets hope he will allow female priests and condoms. at least then so many catholics wouldn't be turned off by the whole church and their crazy policies in developing countries

I hope he's not too much of an attention seeker. I mean I wouldn't want to see him tweet about how he has burst into tears because his boyfriend got run over by the pope mobile and how angry he is that they allowed an old guy to drive it.

I just hope this pope does things for South America that John Paul did for Poland/Eastern Europe.

South America/Argentina needs it......and it would actually make a Pope useful.

But I just don't see it, not this day and age.

It's not that complex. The Church believes that condoms (and all other forms of birth control) encourage recreational sex; sex is for procreation purposes only. Furthermore condoms prevent the creation of new human life.
