And on a slightly related note, I heard on the radio this morning that some 18 yr. old was arrested in Wisconsin for threatening to assassinate Bush. Still looking for linkage.

Darn!!!
They better fire that SS Agent. He must be a lousey shot to only hit the guy in the leg.

Now comes all the lawsuits that could have been avoided.

Zucchini "pitiful waste of an assassin. He didn't even get close to bush, hope the next guy is more effective."
NFS4 " :Q:D "
Bigbootydaddy "lol @ Zucchini"
Zucchini "besides, it would be funny if we got the ss to waste time monitoring anandtech:) hahah, it would mean less agents to find serious assassins:)
Wow, that could be a good thing:)"

I'm confused, it seems that Zucchini seems to think that having Pres. Bush assasinated would be a good thing and that NFS4 and Bigbootydaddy think that is funny concept or joke.

So enlighten me, just what about having the President of the United States assasinated is something that you would hope for? Would you sit and cheer when the funeral is on TV? How about when they show his wife and daughters crying for their husband and father. Or would you save your glee for when they show his parents crying for their lost son?

Would you enjoy the turmoil and probable econmic chaos that having the President assisantated would bring? Are you so partisan that you think that having the President assasinated is justified in any way?

Which is it, over zealous partinship or just plain stupidity because you don't understand the ramifications or give a thought about the humanity of what you are advocating.

I don't understand how anyone can advocate such a thing or find it even remotely humorous. I do know that in the future I will do my best to ignore the posts of the above named people for being either insentive uncaring human beings or total idiots.

So, someone says something bad about Clinton and you want someone to put a bullet into Pres. Bush. Zucchini, you are one sick little puppy.

Only a sick fsck would wish that the President of the United States be assassinated, to try and justify it because "crap that was slinged at clinton" is pathetic.

By the way, I watched Pres. Kennedy's funeral on TV live. It was a sad time for the entire nation. I've been following politics since before you were a squirt in your daddy's pants.

Well, as a fellow conservative, let me suggest that if there was such a thing as silver lining to an assassination of President Bush, it would be the assumption of the office by the even *more* conservative Vice President Cheney.

Your reading more into these messages then is there. As you said earlier, we were joking, albeit in a morbid tasteless way. Your reaction is out of place and patronizing in this thread.

In all seriousness, there would be both good and bad from bush's demise. Cheney would be a more competent leader, yet his political views are even more conservative.. very bad. Now if he were taken out, ugh, person next in line is even worse. Bush doesn't deserve a quick end that would immortalize him.

I'm betting etech voted for that thief bush, shocked and appalled are you?

as for the talk about clinton, it was much worse, he was called a murderer by some.. what does bush get called? a moron/thief

Zuchini "pitiful waste of an assassin. He didn't even get close to bush, hope the next guy is more effective. "

Nope, that is pretty clear what you said. You want the next assassin to be more effective. I don't see how I can read anything more into that. Then you say you wish Bush assassinated because "crap was said about Clinton" (paraphrased). That's pretty clear also.
Now you try to say you were joking about the President of the United States being assassinated. Either you are blinded by your partisanship or you have a sick sense of humor, there are no alternatives.

How is my distaste for your senseless and distasteful remarks "out of place and patronizing in this thread."? What is out of place is someone thinking that a joke about assassination of any human being is in any way humorous or appropriate. Then you try to justify it because someone said something bad about Clinton? Clinton is a proven sexual predator, he sold pardons, he is having to give back items he tried to steal from the White House. These are documented and proven allegations.

Your statements about Pres. Bush being a thief are lies and deception.

<< You want the next assassin to be more effective. >>

For pete's sake, etech, learn to recognize tasteless sarcasm. Read the Onion and watch some Monty Python movies, soon you'll be a sick bastard just like the rest of us.

Oh, now the remark was supposed to be sarcastic. In my opinion you'r still a sick puppy to even find the thought of that humorous even in a sarcastic way. But hey, I'm not of the Beavis and Butthead generation, if you find the thought of someone putting a bullet into the President funny and something to joke about then you have the right to express your self, just as I have the right to say express my views.

<< now the remark was supposed to be sarcastic. >>

No, not NOW. It always WAS meant to be sarcastic, in jest, not serious, whatever terminology you wish to use.

I suppose you're so high and mighty you've NEVER made an offensive joke about a serious topic.

Etech,

Have you forgotten? It is only hate speech when uttered by a Conservative. If it's a liberal, they were only "joking".

I'm with etech on this one. It's not fvcking funny so fvcking stop already. Even if you don't like the guy in office, even 'joking' or being sarcastic about such things is pathetic.

If you don't want to accept your country's leader, move to Canada. I'm not overly fond of him myself, but grow up.

Hey guys....even though most everyone knows that the comments here are tongue-in-cheek.....people have actually been busted in the past for saying or posting less! "I was only joking" doesn't fly with the SS (Secret Service not the Waffen). I just don't want any bad sh1t to come down on anyone because of potentially inflammatory remarks...that's all. :)

why exactly is it so terrible to wish someone dead? For instance Saddam or Hitler or a given Back Street Boy? You'll never see anyone condoned for saying that they should be dead or killed. By being President of the US it apprears that you get elevated from the position of "man" (perhaps "monkey" in Bush's case) to the position of "demi-god". Is it illegal to plan someones death? Or is it only illegal to plan the leader of the United States demise? By planning to kill your neighbor are you already commiting a crime or only if your neighbor happens to be the prez?

In the scheme of things death will catch us all and it matters not at all whether it be at the hands of an assassin or the clutchs of lukemia. We're all walking down a deadend road with our eyes shut.
