Sorry I'm just shocked don't have much to say. I have a friend who was in shape who lost a lower leg to Diabeties. This man Mick Mulvaney is a despicable human being.

This is why you don't let the guy in charge of the Office of Management and Budget weigh in on matters of health and happiness. The man lives in a world of numbers, and he's woefully unqualified to be dealing with actual people in any capacity.

I guess the part of MAGA that wasn't on the campaign website was kill all the fatties and imprison all the heroin junkies. I guess it's a culling of the weak in a way.

I can only say I hope they see the errors in their ways, while some diabetes is brought on by lifestyle choices, some is not. Why not end health insurance for all smokers? That seems to be a bit more of a killer than diabetes.
You smoke? You no get insurance.

Nah, MAGA just really means "Make America German Aryan" because "Heil Hitl... I mean Trump" was too obvious.

I had honestly typed up a rant pretty much eluding to that. But yeah. That's what this feels like.

Deportation laws - round up and kick out the Mexicans
Travel bans - keep out the brown people
Hardened drug laws - lock up the negros, hippies, and heroin junkies
Further lock downs on voting rights - continued suppression of black voting access
Pull the plug on Type II diabetics - kill off the low energy fatties

If you aren't blonde haired and blue eyed model...err model citizen be afraid.

Hmm.. has a credible study been done regarding the apparent link between political affiliation and the onset of type II diabetes?

There's a pretty good overlap of demographics where education, health and political affiliation tend to funnel into distinct parallels.

And why stop there? Congestive heart failure and you are overweight? No ACE inhibitors, beta blockers or diuretics for you. STEMI and overweight? Do not pass go, do not go directly to Cath Lab. Overweight and your dicky don't work? No viagra for you (not that your heart was probably healthy enough for it anyway).

Eastern Kentucky is something like 80% Trump supporters. And nearly every one of them have some sort of chronic health issue due to poor lifestyle habits. Kentucky has some of the worst (if not the worst) heart health in the country.

And we think Obamacare had death panels?

And ironically in many regions like this, the vote was cast for Trump on the grounds that they needed *more* shitty jobs that kill, maim, or at minimum provide lifelong disability for a disproportionately large percentage of the workforce than other careers.

Bring back coal mines indeed.

This is a really misleading title. This is involving a response from the director of the office of management and budget answering a question. And the answer wasn't that diabetics don't deserve healthcare. The answer was that he felt that the government should not be obligated to help care for conditions that are the consequence of someone's bad choices. This is no direct policy statement, and it isn't necessarily an official white house position.

That said, the position in my mind is wrong and the manner of response indicates that he is far too casual with declaring people undeserving of help. Not to mention far from appreciative of the systemic issues in implementing such an exclusion.

I understand his comments were directed at type 2's,. but as a type 1 for over 50 years and still healthy, this INFURIATES me. A very small percentage of type 2's got that way from lifestyle choices.

Type 2 diabetes is actually much more genetically influenced than type 1.

There's a very strong "nurture" component to that where as Type I is a true congenital issue. I don't deny a genetic predisposition to type II, but environment/upbringing plays a huge roll. Shitty lifestyles by parents often drive shitty lifestyles by offspring. Rinse and repeat.

This is one of my areas of expertise and Mick is an asshole because he does not understand the underlying reasons for diabetes which go far beyond increases in weight. One can (and no doubt) say differently, but they would be as informed in the field as Trump is in matters of state.
