Because only America is collecting this data.
And?

We collect a lot of the data because we fund scientific research at levels unmatched by any other country. And this research funding has numerous benefits for the US: training the next generation of scientists, attracting top talent from around the world to learn and work in the US, people going off to form companies or work at existing ones to develop and commercialize new things, and so on and so forth. If I recall the numbers for NIH funding, each dollar of research funding generates $2-$3 of economic activity.

You'd have to be a moron to think you're getting a bad deal by spending $1 to get $2-$3 (a 100-200% return).

It is woke to help Americans live longer healthier lives and make money doing it. People like RFKJR literally believe that if you get sick/disabled/die that you've got poor genes and it is your fault. Having a literal eugenicist death cult in charge of the healthcare apparatus in the US is going to have some really surprisingly unpleasant effects upon people who don't believe in material politics. For to long many Americans have treated voting and elections like a sport that doesn't really impact anything, that it is not incumbent upon them to understand the stakes. Well they may not believe in material politics but material politics believes in them.

Remember when the GOP rep in Texas said old people should sacrifice themselves to Covid?
