White girl who looks black

Leros

Lifer
I saw a girl today on campus. She was white and had blond hair. But her face looked looked like the face of a black person. Her facial structure, lips, nose, etc. She wasn't mixed, she was white as white gets. Is there a disease or something that turns black people white?

(I have a feeling this thread will backfire on me and make me look racist, I'm really not trying to be racist here, just curious)

Yep, it's called vitiligo.

I doubt that's what this girl has, from your description. Just like occasionally black people have sharper, "whiter" features, sometimes whiteys have softer, "blacker" features.

Interesting. I know a Filipino guy who has white spots all over his body, but I didn't know it could take over your whole body like that.

How do you know he has it "all over" his body?

😉

I've seen a couple of people with it, but never completely covering even the face or hands. As her209 pointed out, Michael Jackson supposedly has this disorder.

My programming professor's daughter has vitiligo.. I was thinking about how unfortunate for her till she told me that because she's so young she stands a strong chance of all the pigmentation being consumed in her skin and once that's done it will begin to attack internal organs..

I've known this woman and year and just learned this last week.. Ruint the rest of my afternoon for giving her such a hard time at times for being late to come to her class 🙁

This thread remained civil for longer than I expected.

Anyways, is there a disease that does the opposite? A disease that makes white people dark?

WTH?! No, vitiligo does not attack your internal organs. Either you misunderstood (she has some other disease) or your professor is a nut.

Here is an article about a newscaster who suffers from vitiligo.

Ah yes, Lee Thomas. The first time I saw him on TV I didn't know what I was looking at. He was wearing so much makeup. He looked like someone that had dipped himself in chocolate. Everything on his face was the same color, lips, eyebrows, etc. Freaky, like one of my old army men I had when I was a kid.
