I dont have any problem with a name like BET. But I want an honest opinion...What would the responce from the Black community be to a channel called "White Entertainment Television". I dont want to hear about all the other channles being white entertainment...that is not the point. It is the NAME I am curious about. What do you think ?? How would the black community respond ? Just in regards to the NAME..please.

It means that it's direct at black people, meaning black people would probably be the only people who like it. "MTV" means "MUSIC Television", meaning it's directed at people who like to listen to music, if you hated music then you wouldn't tune into MTV. Same goes for BET, if you hated hip-hop, rap then you wouldn't tune into BET.
 
joshpokeball: thats not what I am asking...I undeerstand the naming convention. I am just interested in your opinion of the black communities reaction to a channel called White Entertainment TV.



 
I don't know about the black community, but I can imagine how just men in general would perceive a channel called WET. :Q 😉

The thing I don't get is why people get all pissed off when people generalize black people by saying they all like rap or all are gangsters or whatever. Yet when you turn on BET, that is the impression that is given.

Actually, BET has others shows like talk shows and Jazz shows that have nothing to do with hip-hop or &quot;gangstas&quot;.
 
Without Lifetime..the blonde from NightCout, and the wife/mom from Family Ties would have nowhere to work!

Honestly who cares? Its not like I'm watching BET, its not like they are broad casting racist shows either. The day I see &quot;The Kill Whitey hour&quot; on BET is when I might have a problem. So they are creating entertainment for one specific ethnic group, isn't almost every show on the major networks try to win a certain demo? I don't know many black people who watch Frasier, just like I don't know any adults watching Dawson's Creek. Come on people, screw the whining double standard sh!t and let it be.

You want WET TV? Leave the tube outside, eventually you'll have WET TV. Commercial free and quite quiet from what I hear. 😛
