I've seen some weird things about this new fruity whistler start menu thing...call me boring, but I like a plain black background with a few icons, and a simple startmenu (ala Win98SE/Win2000).

I'm looking forward to making the jump to NT and I'd probably do it with 2000 but I don't need SMP support, and I'd rather pay less for Whistler Personal than Win2000Pro

I heard something about being able to change the look of Whistler...so can you set it back to a normal looking startmenu with a plain boring desktop?

I've played with Whistler Pro build 2410. You can choose the windows classic look. The thing that bugs me is that,if you do choose the Whistler"watercolor" scheme as they call it,you can't modify it. I like the watercolor scheme, except it's a little bright. I had to use a 3rd party app to be able to change the toolbar colors and such.

I just heard that the whistler that is out there now is going to be nothing like the next release of whistler I think on Feb 12th or 15th. One of my co-workers just told me about that yesterday. Microsoft was keeping it secret and only like 3 other companies knew about it, none of the beta have it yet. So I think we are all going to have to wait.

"my two cents"
