What is the performance difference with the whisper series of Power supplies? They are only about 6 bucks more and I was wondering if anybody had any experience with them, or should I just go for the standard PS? This would be for the 431 watt PS.

pretty much the only difference is the exhaust fan on the whisper is temp controlled... it slows down if the temp in the case goes down..
 
mrCide is right. Here are the temp/rpm ratings for the fan:

deg. C/rpm

25/1800
45/2100
65/2600
85/3100

At room temp the fan doesn't push much air at all but is silent. If you have a mobo with just a heat sink on the north bridge you can attach the thermistor that controls the rpm to it to get the fan to spin faster.
