Its what the millatary uses instead of letters. Its like oner or niner kind of thing. Its just so messages dont get mixed up over airways cause things all sound similar.

Have you ever been on a CB of cell....or even a phone and needed to percisly read a serial number or something...and for FGT345 you say" Fox Gun Time 3 4 5".

Its just a way to annunciate it.
