Whirlpool Polara at Sears B&M, YMMV

Just went to my local Sears shopping for a new oven for my kitchen and the local Sears was selling the Whirlpool Polara, normally priced at $1899.00 for only $759.00. Only detractor is, they're selling their demo units at that price, but the floor model we got has full warranty and is like new. Salesman said that Sears is doing it nationwide because they're not selling well, so they're liquidating stock.

We were looking for a good convection oven and couldn't pass up this deal as the next closest priced convection oven was about $800.00 without the advanced features of the Polara.

For more info on the oven, click here.

That's right. Nothing like throwing a cube of Pepsi in the oven! 😀

Everything I've seen and read about it points to it being ahead of it's time or too complex for the average person. For computer geeks however, it's quite simple.

Here's my plan. I'm going to order the largest pizza from my favorite place that I can. I'm gonna eat my fill and place the leftovers in the oven to keep cool for lunch the next day. Then I'm gonna program it to heat the pizza up automatically around lunch time so when I come home from work for lunch, I got warm pizza!

Whirlpool is actually considering one of these with internet connectivity so people can control the oven features over the internet.

9:00 PM You prepare a homemade lasagna dinner for tomorrow.

9:35 PM You put the lasagna in your oven.

9:36 PM Your oven activates refrigeration mode.

6:30 AM You wake up.

8:30 AM You arrive at work and go into an important meeting.

4:15 PM Your oven begins baking the lasagna at 325°F.

5:20 PM You pick up the kids from soccer practice.

5:25 PM Your oven stops baking and keeps the lasagna warm.*

6:10 PM You return home.

6:30 PM Your homemade lasagna dinner is enjoyed by all.

6:35 PM You smile, because that was so easy.

*If the door isn't opened, the Polara? Refrigerated Range automatically enters warming mode for one hour after baking is complete. After another hour, it automatically begins cooling.

The sears website shows all polar's as costing like $1800. Very tempted to go down to my local B&M and see what they have. MY wife wants a convection oven and this puts it right in the price range we were shopping.

Probably only available in stainless, each store has about one of these here.

Not on clearance here in Tennessee Price 1804.00

It's a standalone 30" oven and range.

Range is one of those all flat top things.

Oven is a convection oven so good backing.

BTW if you want this bestbuys has it on their web site for $300 less than sears.

Wonder if they price match?

Just what everyone needs, an oven that starts up when your not home. You'll either come home to a nicely cooked meal or a fire gutted house frame.

I could see if the burners started but how is an oven going to burn down a house?

Just checked our local sears B&M and best they had was the white for $1700. They did say they would price match against Best Buys $1499 price though and add 10% of the difference so $1480.

Well had a chance to look at this beast.

First of all it looks really nice.

However you make some sacrifices for the built in fridge.

The bottom storage/warmer is gone. So if you use that space for cookies sheets, you will need to find some place else.

The inside of the oven also feels small. Would need to look at specs to see by how much but it felt small compared to the $900 kenmore convection oven we were looking at.

If the price was in the $1000 range I would probably be willing to give it a whirl just for the novelty but at $1500 I'm probably getting a plain ole convection oven.

(I got a kick out of the polara having an "undo" button. that would come in handy when I'm burning cookies. .......)

LOL....evenly cooked either way...

Two sears in no deal.

They said when the warehouse in our area runs out maybe but they have tons in the warehouse.

They do have a new kenmore for $899 though that is a convection oven but no fridge.

Fridge means a smaller oven and no bottom storage or warmer. we were "in" for $800 but for $1800 think we will keep the fridge where it belongs.

Here in Southern Connecticut where electricity is a paltry 14¢ per kWh, I'm always looking for ways to use more electricity. I can go around leaving lights on and stuff, but to really make a difference you need new technology.

With one of these, I bet I could get that disc on the electric meter spinning fast enough to cut a two-by-four! Woohoo!

well gave up on trying to find a cheap polara. Nice concept but at $1700 too rich for my blood.

Instead we got a new maytag convection oven. "only" 980 and has a good size, 5.22 cubic foot oven. Brand new for 2004, comes in this week.

Woman get in the kitchen and make me some pie!

Amazing....one day my oven and microwave will be on my network. Just give them a static IP, open a few ports on the firewall, and it's ready to be controlled via browser 😎
