Whimper... - Trusty KT7A keyboard problem

Well my "flawless" KT7A has just developed a problem - at first when I tried to use the keyboard I would get a clicking sound coming from the case speaker (the one that gives you the beep codes). Now for some reason the keyboard seems to fail to respond at all. I've tried another keyboard and get the same result - the keyboard works as I have tested it in my other system and it is fine.

Anybody know anything about KT7A's and keyboard "clicking" or losing the keyboard function?

Everything else is working perfectly - if find it hard to imagine that the PS/2 connector has just given up on me :(

Any ideas?

No it boots up as per normal - no error messages at all :(

It seems to be an intermittent problem - but getting worse - basically if you press any key there is an audible "click" from the case speaker.

I've not changed anything in my system that might cause a conflict - I assume that perhaps the PS/2 connector has developed a faulty connection :(

I could not use the keyboard at all last night - mouse commands only :(

No conflicts in Device Manager? Can you borrow a friends USB keyboard to try? Be a lot cheaper to replace the PS/2 keyboard with a USB model than the motherboard.

Yeah - thats the next stop to get a USB keyboard - I'm half tempted to return the KT7A rev 1.0 that I have and maybe I'll get a KT7A rev 1.3 in return ;)

The board has been great for the past 8 months - it's the only ABIT board I've ever had any trouble with :(

Yeah I've got a rev1.0 too(me knocks the hell out of my wooden desk:)), have you tried emailing them on the time it would take to RMA?

Well I just got off the phone from ABIT (USA) technical support - The arrogant f@ckwit on there was enough to completely put me off buying their products ever again - talk about total disinterest in helping the customer :(

The advice given - "try another motherboard and see if you still have the same problem"?.....what the f@ck is that supposed to mean?!?!?

Fortunately my only previous experience with ABIT was in Hong Kong and pleasant too when I RMA'd a KT7-RAID board for my buddy - you just take it into the office - wait for 15mins then they give you a new one :)

Guess I better order a cheap USB keyboard :(

I can't return my KT7A to ABIT USA - it has to go back to Hong Kong..... :(
