While we're biotching about gas prices, how come bottled water are more expensive per gallon...

Hmm the water i get is $0.33 a gallon. wow gas must be cheap where you live!

sure we have a bunch of water on the earth. but most of it is NOT drinkable.

In my last semester of college I took a 100 level survey class and one of our assignments was to calculate the cost of common things you use into cost per gallon. I realize that some things you use far less of than gasoline but it still put into perspective how little we pay for gas compared to other commodities and other countries.

We do have a lot of water, 75% of the earth's surface is water. The problem is the clean, drinkable water that we are lacking. I think we only have about 2 to 3% of clean water that suitable for drinking. Over 1 billions people are in need of clean water everyday.

Lack of clean water

Damn, where do you live that water is more expensive?! I pay $2 for a 5gallon tank of water.

Only crack heads buy water at these kinds of prices. I can buy a gallon jug for $.64, but I drink tap water anyway.

Mine is bottled! It's just in a big bottle.

But if you mean little bottles, then that's understandable. You have to pay for the manufature of the bottles, the bottling of it, the distribution of it, and then finally a markup.

Imagine the costs of gas if it came bottled like that.

The water i buy is purified, and i use it very much the same as i do when i go to a gas station. I pull my car up to the store, walk in, put the nozzle to my bottle, and fill it up (they also sell prebottled water, but i like using my own), then recap it.

Hmmm... now this give me an idea.... if they would get rid of gas stations, and just distribute gasoline the same way they do with electricity or natural gas, complete with meter and everything. How much do you think it would cost?

Wouldn't it be cool to fill up in your own garage? Of course remote stations are still available along highways and such.
