Purchasing power parity... our actual numbers are still quiet a bit higher.
One can not do business with that number.

Not a surprise since Bush and the GOP sold out America.

I would say that conservatives have sold us out. Both Republican and Democratic conservatives, with the Republicans leading the way most of the time. Conservatives get the public to vote against their best interests by deriding anything moderate as evil and totalitarian, convincing the public to vote them into office to save the day against the evil opposition. Divide and conquer, it actually works because human nature is to be on one side of an issue (preferably the 'winning' side!). The wealthy and powerful know this and use it to their advantage.

As long as we are at each others throats then we are too busy to grab theirs.

I don't see why we should be more concerned about China doing well than our own problems.

America's obsession with the almighty dollar, profits only matter, people are resources not personnel, cheaper is better, greed is good, not christian vs Muslim or black vs white or some other bullshit like that,

China just took advantage of those obsessions and used American corporate greed to its advantage and the only half-assed solution we have are raising the minimum wage or paying fast food workers $15 dollars an hour or more to make up for the wage decline that has resulted from that.

And for all those corporations now that are crying the blues as their intellectual property balls get squeezed in the Chinese press,

Don't blame China for stealing your wallet after she loved you long time on the cheap because your American union wife that kept your economic house in order just wanted her fair share which you didn't want to pay for.

Yes, when you look at mere international exchange rates, the U.S. economy remains bigger than that of China, allegedly by almost 70%.

But, yeah, when you compare the cost of a bowl of soup in China that costs $.50 and in the US it costs $5 the purchasing parity measure shows them as the same.

US GDP still massively higher.

Really, this is not terrible news anyway. China is a damn huge country with 4X the population of the US. It's not reasonable for the US to assume it can always have the biggest economy.

What is India's population and economic status?

4 times that of the US and 3rd biggest economy (by PPP).

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)

Also, irony and hilarity from the article:

the two countries have been in the vanguard worldwide in terms of civil liberties, democratic processes and constitutional rights.

hahahhahahaha.... right.. while committing genocide, stealing land, causing famines, institutional slavery, and causing the largest transfer of wealth (theft) in the world (from India to Shitty Britain).

Silly untouchables, know your place. The resurging economies of India & China will regain their rightful place in the world.

An Ice-Cubian axiom comes to mind: :D

Bow down when I come to your town. Bow down when I'm westward bound. Bow down 'cause I ain't an untouchable like you. Bow down to a Brahmin that's greater than you!

If people's desire to be on the winning team can be used to manipulate people to act against their self interest then I would say that people have a brain defect. What else could something be, if its inherent and detrimental, than a defect?

I would say it's a brain defect that would make anyone think the politicians care for anyone other than themselves. They do whatever it takes to get elected and then get reelected.

Baasha, you have internalized the lie of Indian inferiority to such a degree that you have become fanatical in your need to dispel it. As a white western person I grew up in a racial social class vacuum and never learned I was inferior to others on those bases. As a consequence, I have never felt that Indians or anybody else is inferior nor do I carry any feelings of guilt about what the British did. I believe if you could have replaced all British genes with Indian ones and visa versa Brittan would have acted identically.

It isn't your race or color or nationality that matters a whit, it is your emotional state. Those who have been humiliated and subjected to injustice seek revenge and will turn around and do what was done to them. Then it will be the "evil others" turn to respond and for the world to look down their nose at you. You have been infected with hatred and I hope you find a cure that doesn't demand revenge.

You are full of yourself as an Indian because you have been exposed to prejudice and have internalized it. If you knew your true value as a human being you would have no need to prove anything.

If it makes any difference in the value of these words to you I have invested, by my standards at least, a nerve rackingly large some of money to help my Indian nephew build his business there, one that if he is successful, will supply products that will very much help the standard of living there.

One thing you might want to do, also, is not to lose sight, in an effort to aggrandize ones nation, that even the best countries have flaws. Your country, for example, at least in my opinion, would function much better if one didn't have to grease everybody's palms to get anything done officially. Can we please have more Western law.
