Which X1900XT should I get? What brand?

Does it matter which brand I get for my X1900XT? Do some overclock from the factory or run faster memory or gpu speeds? What's the best bang for your buck card? Are all capable of mods (whatever they may be)? Where should I purchase it?

They are all the same, but some have better GPU/memories than others. Just a good luck if you get one.

Not sure if it applies to you but in the UK the Sapphire branded cards seem to be lower price than others at retail; the other manufacturers don't seem to be bothering to drop theirs.

I would go for a Sapphire or ATI brand card.

I got Connect3D 1900XT, if you peel the sticker on fan, then everything is ATI, including every single piece of accessories (hardware only).

Get whatevers cheapest from newegg, mwave, newegg, tigerdirect, zipzoomfly

There are so similar it realy doesn't matter which brand or site.... if it's cheap and has a good warrenty, why not

Only powercolor has lifetime warranty. With such a hot running card, its something to be aware of.

Powercolor = lifetime warranty on retail cards, Not sure how good their RMA support is.

Asus = 3 Year warranty on all cards & some nice extra software utilitys, also good RMA support if you need it.

HIS = Better then stock cooling solutions with the IceQ3 seris of cards, but only 1 year warranty & RMA support is shaky.


Beyond that, I'd avoid MSI personally, otherwise shop by price.

I've been dwindling on the same issue. Smooth, painless warranty is no. 1 preference for me. I just found out some companies charge fees (not just shipping) for warranty service, which is a huge let-down. I still couldn't get a definite answer. I'm looking for at least 2 years of warranty - with easy/fast procedure and minimum fee (i.e. shipping only)

they're also quite a bit more expensive... for that increase you could just get an aftermarket cooler.

The only reason I'd go with them is if I wanted a better cooler but was a real stickler and didn't want to risk voiding my warrentee switching to aftermarket. But with a one year warentee there isn't really much to risk.

I thought I read somewhere that they are all manufactured in the same factory (Sapphire's)?
If that is true, just get one based on price/bundle/warranty/after-sale support...whatever matters most. I haven't heard of many dying X1900XTs so I would feel comfortable getting one based on price.

And I remember this thread about someone's horrid experience with HIS for an RMA. So, I wouldn't recommend a HIS card to anyone, great cooler or not.

thanks for the thread, i had the exact same question myself... sounds like you just need to look for a good price/warranty ratio, but stability and overall functionality *should* be equal amongst all brands
