Would your rather run a processor at...

lower vcore higher temp

OR

higher vcore lower temp

assuming both run at the same speed

i've noticed weird things about the 0310 w and u

u does 11.5 x 210 @ 1.875 stable at temps around 54 while running seti@home

w does 11.5 x 210 @ 1.825 stable at temps around 56 while running seti@ home

which is better?

i'd go with lower vcore

Lower vcore because temperature doesn't have as significant an impact upon electromigration as voltage does. Plus there's always room for improved cooling to get the temps down.

I'll go for lower Vcore too.

But since your "actual" Vcore is less than the general 1.85v limit...why don't you try out how high these chips can go at "actual" 1.85v ? :D

i can't get the 0310 w stable at 2.5

the 0310 u is stable at 2.5... but i'm running it slower right now due to higher temps

...

btw... the 0310 w is dead now :(

hehehe.. it was bound to happen after going through 11 processors...

chipped two corners of the core...

oh well! another reason to get another processor to test out :) :) :)

Doesn't matter if you're using air, water, or liquid nitrogen... voltage will break down a CPU no matter what the temperature is. Go with the lower voltage.

Ohh...condolences :( That chip has been quite an overclockers

How did you kill the chip? Voltages huh?

no..

i chipped the core while putting my water block on..
the surface had a weird bump on it that i had noticed.. iddn't realize it was located right at the corner of the core...

as i was putting the block on.. i heard some scraping / crunching noise... i knew i had damaged the core...

it was an honest mistake... it was bound to happen after 11 cpu's... :)

oh well... time to get a new cpu to test! :)

Lower voltage higher temp.

More voltage is much more lethal than higher temp.

Ah..we'll be waiting for your reports..as always!
I might start doing this during summer when I start working and can leave my PC alone to stress test :p

yeah...

i'll have more time too to leave my cpu's stress testing...

i'll be researching full time and i'll have extra money to buy processors with my 33% assistantship :) :) :)

i'm thinking of building another setup WOO HOO!

but right now, i have two more chips coming

a xpmw 0310

and i'm taking the gamble on an OEM 1800+ DLT3C from newegg... i'm hoping it's a B ... if not, then i gotta sell this thing off :(

Coming soon: 0310 XPMW 1700+

I have one right now and it runs 2365mhz @1.80 on air... Best $55 cpu yet... :) Cant wait to see one on "High quality H2O" (Bobby Bouche) :D
