Just for poops and giggles I decided to see if the GT-R was on the Nissan USA website and it was. Then I saw that you could build your own GT-R...So I started building mine :). I configured a GT-R Loaded except for the roof airbags and curtain airbags. I included the cold weather package. Total price was $76,840.

Then I went the Chevy's website and configured a Z06 as close as I could as the GT-R and its total price was...$76,920. So would you buy the GT-R or the Vette for the prices listed?

I LOOOOOOVE the Z06, and it's superior in many ways (Fuel Economy, Maintenance Costs, Acceleration beyond 60, Weight), but would have to give the nod to the GT-R. With the global economy on a destruction course, rising regulation, rising fuel prices, etc, it's looking pretty likely that the GT-R's lifespan will be short (5 years or less, probably 3 or 4), which makes it a serious collector vehicle. It's also very unique.

Between the two, you can't really go wrong though. It's like having to choose between Natalie Portman and Katrina Bowden for a weekend in Monaco.

That's just a crazy thought.

Although, I would choose the GT-R because it's the closest thing I can get to a legit GT-R R34. I may have to move to Canada sometime so I can use that... 15 year old car rule?

I'd have to test drive them, but just for the fact that the Z06 would be easier to work on an cheaper to fix, I would give it the nod.

Z06 .. although I would prefer the ZR1. :)

The GT-R is one heck of a car, but I loves me some American muscle.

Proabably the GT-R just for the exclusivity/uniqueness although I think the Z06 would be more fun to drive.

GTR for me. I'm not very fond of how the vette looks, and I prefer the looks of the GT-R. Also the GT-r would be much easier to live with, far more comfortable, better interior design + that cool info system, and it should be good in all conditions.

Have people who are saying the GT-R would be easier to live with looked at the scheduled maintenance costs?
You are looking at $200 oil changes, $6000 brakes, $80/qt tranny fluid... If I could afford that on top of GT-R's price + premium, I'd be buying a ZR1.

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, you are not obligated to have your vehicle serviced by the dealer to preserve the warranty. As long as the service intervals and materials used are within the manufacturer's guidelines, the warranty coverage is intact.

In addition, most third party extended warranties and service contracts (fluid changes and scheduled maintenance included) have coverage for the Nissan GTR without any additional surcharges. In fact, I don't know any Nissan products which are excluded from extended warranties or service contracts.

I personally don't find the looks of the GT-R all the great, but I have to agree with him. There is a base or Z06 around every corner here and the GT-R would certainly stand out. It's performance is out of this world for what it is and I'm a gadget freak so I'd give my nod to the GT-R for the money.

While all those hold true, I personally prefer the Z06, but at those kinds of prices exclusivity and neat toys will win me over.

I'd get the Vette, in part because I'm white, not Asian. I'm just not a fan of the way the GT-R looks.
