now that I've got bills and crap again and work fairly regular hours, I've been doing my best to bring lunch to work instead of ordering out 2-3 days/week and going hungry the rest... it led to a conflict, though. which would be healthier, a few pieces of plain fruit or a salad w/ a moderate amount of dressing (either oil/vinegar or ranch).

I prefer fats to sugars when dieting, but I'm fat and you probably shouldn't listen to me.

Why not mix it up? Eat the same thing every day and you'll get bored. I hope that this isn't your entire lunch.

Salad with lite olive oil dressing or Fruit. You won't get fat eating fruits.

Where's the protein? Go with a salad with a slice up chicken breast. Then use olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dressing.

You're kidding, right?
Fats are essential for life. Complex carbs and essential oils or simple carbs with fiber? Hmmm, I choose life.

The healthiest diet will include fruit daily, preferably by itself at least an hour before a meal and consisting of those of low glycemic value (ie. apples and pears).

But, what's the fun in being a diet extremist?

I was planning on eating a steak, wrapped in bacon, and then fried as a side dish... with a diet coke. :p

Probably the fruit, most salad dressing has a lot of calories (and a lot of people put a lot on their salad.) One tablespoon of olive oil has 120 calories, keep that in mind. Be sure to read the label and portion the dressing. I hope this is a snack or side dish, you need some protien for lunch.

But keep in mind olive oil is a mono unsaturated fat that is actually healthy and counters the bad fats...

Why one or t'other? Heck, some salads such as Waldorf are primarily fruit.

But for healthy 'n' tasty something like lettuce (Romain or such) with apple (Gala?) with nuts or seeds or beans or raisins or any combination thereof with pepper and grape seed oil would fit ze bill.
