ive just noticed that a single 6600 is a little over 100 while a 6600 gt is close to 200. would i get better graphics out of which setup?
 
SLI is a way to expand top end to top-top end, not low end to anything. Take the single 6600GT. Let power, less noise and no SLI bugs.
 
the 6600's won't SLI anyway. you're gonna have to use 6600GT's or better. if you're gonna build an SLI rig tho, i'd recommend a 6800GT(if you can find one) it'll perform at the same level as 2x 6600GT's, but leave an upgrade path open
