I bought a A6200 WiFi USB Adapter to toy with and was shocked it worked good at a close distance for web use.
All of my 3 pc use are wired to Intel pro1000 PT Desktop Adapters to avoid any problems.
Wireless adapters use half duplex.

USB adapters usually will add quite a bit to your ping, in addition to having ping spikes if the bus gets saturated. Pick any in the price range really.

If you will be gaming on wireless; Riot (League of Legends) has recently published probably the biggest worldwide sample study ever done of wired versus wireless play :

http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/page/ethernet-vs-wifi-ping-packets-playing-better

When you look at League players around the world, the average ping for players on a WiFi connection is between 6.7ms and 11.7ms higher than for those using an Ethernet connection.

It's an interesting read, also talks about pack lost, jitter, and additional lag time introduced when going wireless and how that seems to DIRECTLY correlate on average to player rankings.

I like Tp-link stuff and tend to recommend their products (aside from routers made after June for blocking open source firmware) but even they can't defy physics :D If latency is the concern here and you won't be needing mobility while gaming, I'd actually grab a used DIR-601 or 615 ($9) and put gargoyle firmware on it to create a wireless bridge. That way the laptop just sees an Ethernet network.

TP-Link, Belkin, and Netgears seems fine to me, but I would still suggest to go for a direct router!

Gaming & wifi is not something I ever recommend. Hardline to router is your friend, failing that I would go with a powerline adapter.
