Which wireless PCI adapter will work with Orinoco Gold / Silver?

Just got a Orinoco Silver (Lucent/Agere) and Orinoco Gold (Dell Truemobile 1150) but don't have a PCI adapter for my desktops.

Which wireless PCI adapter will work with these cards? Will Belkin F5D6020 work with these cards?

I don't want to fry my cards!!!😕

All the pci adapters that I have seen use the same chip. I believe they say PLX on them or something. I think they all should work. You just have to make sure you get the right one, 5 V vs 3.3 V. I have used the GOLD card in a Seimmens adapter with the PLX chipset with no problems. If you are really worried, you might want to get the lucent one, but I do not think it matters as long as the voltage is right.. Hope this helps.

<< How do I determine the voltage? (5 v or 3.3v) >>

Back of the card, specs in documentation, or specs on company/product website

I'm using the PCI adapter that comes with the D-Link DWL-500 desktop WiFi adapter kit. The kit is a PCI adapter + DWL-650 PC Card.

The orinoco card is a 5 V 16-bit card, while the DWL-650 is a (32-bit ?) 3.3. V card.

One adapter to avoid is the Netgear adapter, which I have seen reports of being designed specifically for the Netgear PC Card.

In general, if the PCI adapter is a PCI to PCMCIA bridge, then you should be okay.

Appreciate all the info provided. 🙂

I checked my Belkin PCI adapter (F5D6000) and it says power consumption is 5V.

My Lucent Wavelan Silver has 5V and 16 (bits?) marked at the back of the card.

My Dell Truemobile is still in the mail and don't know the specs. Will check the internet for the specs.
