I am looking into buying a OS for the new machine that i have built. It has dual SLI XFX 7900 GTX's (512) and 8gigs of ram i do alot of 3D work and some video editing .. photoshop etc are also frequently used. I was looking into the different windows types and found XP pro and the 64 bit edition will probably be best for me. I play alot of games and watch too many movies. i was looking into this and found that people are saying that the 64 bit edition is better for me but ive also heard that there are driver issues and alot of different games have poor performance on this version of windows. please advise me.

The x64 version is probably advised because they expect it to handle the 8GB of RAM, whereas XP Pro or any other available Windows OS just won't see it.

Why exactly do you have 8GB of RAM? I mean, 4GB is too much for XP, so getting 8 is just like

wiredvibes, I'm dowloading Windows Vista x64 Public Beta 2 right now. once drivers and games shake out, this is the OS for you, imho. It is the only one that can address 8GB of RAM. 4GB of that is simply wasted on XP, it doesn't even see it....or Windows Server? lol
