Which Windows OS for this system?

AMD K6-2 450Mhz, 64MB RAM, TNT1 Video Card. Intended use is primarily for internet browsing, word processing, and maybe serving (ftp, mirc). I'm trying to decide whether I should install Win 98 SE, 2000, or XP. I'm not sure if those specs are enough to handle XP. Any recommendations? Thanks.

If I were in your shoes I would opt to install 98SE. 2000 manages resources great, but w/ only 64 MB ram it may hang.

Good luck

2000 will do fine with 128, XP may struggle. i'm on XP right now and my system is using 300mb even though it's idle right now......application open are:
-Bandwidth Monitor
-ICQ
-IE
-Outlook
-MySQL
-Apache

Bandwidth monitor is a 1mb program, ICQ is about 10mb i think, IE runs under the ram Windows uses, Outlook is not that big, MySQL is 0 since nobody is connected, apache is probably about 5mb

With 128 you should stay with 2000 (or 98se). I think XP should have at least 256. What ever you do, stay away from Me. I've never used Me, but I've heard enough to keep me away! Once I went to 2000 (now at XP), I swore never to look back at 98/Me even for my second system and makeshift home network storage sever. Just my opinion.
