Same reason, though to a lesser extent, why people hate twitter and myspace. It's the internet dumbed down for the masses. It's like the internet mass marketed to trailer park hicks by wallmart. All your friends can message you any time any where, tell them every litte boring fact about every boring day of your life.

On one social network I got nothing but arabic friend requests. My gmail account was spammed by arabs. On any tech/gaming site, people immediately talk about KOTOR.

I am neither Arab, nor have I ever played KOTOR. I've been going by this name since before KOTOR even came out.

No not really. ATOT is a place to goof off and unwind. For one thing it's anonymous. I don't know who your real life friends are, I don't know your real life interests or what you had for dinner last night. If you want to post such info you are free to do so but most posts no mater what they are about will usually descend into jokes and sarcasm. It's fun. I see very little that is carefree and fun about most serious social networking sites.

Why? I can understand people disliking 4chan and other internet polluting sites... but facebook is self-contained. The only oddity on facebook I have ever seen is Vin Diesel. The guy gets 100 comments to anything he posts within the first minute, I kid you not. Both guys and girls saying how much they love him.

What's the news here? I have more than a few friends on my list who get hundreds of comments on any of their new posts (granted, they are mostly artists and politicians.)
