Which webcam...

I'm considering getting a webcam for video confering uses...however, its gotta be cheap. Don't really have a budget since I don't even know the price range of webcams...

Also, I'm on cable that's capped at around 1.5Mbps/128Kbps download/upload. Will that be able to sustain live streaming video from webcams?

u should be able to receive video at the greatest resolution of a webcam i dunno the send quality, but I use a 3com webcam and I get maybe 5 frames per second.

I don't have a recommendation but I'd check if any cam you get has Win2K support. I have a couple year old Logitech Color QuickCam2 and even though I paid a pretty price for it when I got it there's no Win2K support for it. :|

EDIT: Not sure but I think that 128K upload will hamper your broadcast rate. That's only ISDN rate and from what I remember it wasn't very good when I had it. Haven't used my cam in a while though, maybe programs have improved since then.

Hmmn, thanks, I was kinda skeptical about my broadcast rate too, since my cable's capped at around 128Kbps. Actually, a bit higher than that, since I can upload at up to around 18KBps, which is about 144Kbps, but that's not much higher than dual channel ISDN. 🙁

So, anyone else with webcam recommendations?

How much does that cost? How does it compare to Creative's webcams?
Remember, I'm looking for a cheap one 🙂

Yikes, looks like they only sell the 3COM USB Conference Kit, the Creative Webcam Go, the Creative Webcam III and the Logitech QuickCam Express USB around here, and only the Webcam III and the QuickCam is possibly within my budget. Which of the above 2 is better?

Thanks...looks like the Creative Webcam3 is better than the Logitech QuickCam. But, the reviews I've seen says that it draws quite a bit of power. Will the USB port at the back of my BH6 motherboard be able to supply enough power? I don't have a USB hub since I don't use any USB devices.

Thanks again
