Which way should i go in the computer field?

I am getting ready to go back to school and am trying to deicde what to major in. I like messing with computers and stuff, but I don't know what exactly I would like to do with my skills. I haven't done much programming, but it seems to be like it would be boring. I have not done any web site building, but that might be okay. I've done some networking and that was pretty cool. What else should I consider, what are good majors to look at? Thanks

I could have swore that others have posted similar questions to this before, and I did several searches, but came up empty. But if you do know of other threads like this, please just link them here.

Well for the next several years I fear that the computer field will continue to be a little difficult for newbies to get into. Really I suppose the age old answer is pick what you like, but are you sure you want to do a major in computers at all?

I did go to DeVRY for a while majoring in EE, but I got bored with it, I don't want that in depth with electronics.

I thought I did, but if I can't get a job what good will it do me, I can't think of anything else that i will enjoy doing though. Why is it so hard to get a job in the IT industry right now? I understand the economy is bad, but I know thats not all your talking about. When i do job searches on monster and whatever, and read the ads in the paper, there seem to be tons of job openings, but they all require a degree. Granted half of them also do require experience, but it still seems to me that there are jobs to be had, am i worng in thinking this?

It all depends on what school you go to. We, at Alabama, have an excellent MIS program. 100% placement for the last 4 years into companies like Home Depot, Kimberly-Clark, Walmart IS, Accenture, ...

After talking to companies for tha last year, many companies are looking for IT people that know both technical and business processes. Many companies are starting to outsource programers from other countries.
