And while I am too young to have seen alien when it was new, I saw the directors cut in the theater a few years back. A TV cant do that movie justice, half of it is the eerie, empty sound of the film.

Guys...guys...we are forgetting perhaps the most important movie of our lifetimes: Alien vs. predator, now that gets my vote

Am I one of the only people who thinks T3 was actually good? I loved the end of it and hope they eventually make a #4 even if it is without Arnold.

You're not alone. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/terminator_3_rise_of_the_machines/

It wasn't terrible, but certainly wasn't anything compared to the first two.

And while we're at it...
Alien³ the dirctor's cut really made me change my opinion of it. I used to think it was the worst of the quadrilogy, but now I think it beats out Resurrection.
And again, nothing compared to the first two :p

You have no idea how much that movie disappointed me. I hate that movie for many reasons, but mostly cause it caused Cameron to pass on making Alien 5.

All 4 are great movies, but i picked the original both times.

For Terminator, i just liked Arnold's role better as the bad guy.

I need to see the Alien series again. It's been a long time since i've seen either 1 or 2. Maybe that would make me rethink my pick.

Few movies are worse than Aliens : Resurrection.

I prefer Alien to its sequel. Terminator is difficult to compare to T2 because it was so raw and filmed with such a low budget (compared to the polish and glitz of T2). I'm going to give T2 the edge though.

They are all very good movies. I honestly have a hard time choosing one over the other because the 1st part in each are so different than their sequels.

I couldn't even watch T3. I tried but it pretty much sucked...that and the Terminator looked old.

They all have their own unique merits.

Alien is a benchmark for space horror.
Aliens was a scary action movie.

The original Terminator was a very well done sci-fi movie.
T2 was a benchmark for special effects and action.

I think the originals were certainly classics for their respective fields while the second ones were much more enjoyed by action buffs and entertained a much larger audience.

Of the 4, I still like Aliens the best because I think it's a wonderful combination of characters, atmosphere, special effects, and creatures. Plus being one of the first "R" rated movies I can remember watching doesn't hurt it from an emotional standpoint. I remember drawing pictures of pulse rifles and the flame throwers when I was like 7 :)

I'm trying to remember what the original Alien was like, but I'm drawing a blank. I've seen Aliens, T1, and T2 several times each, but I just can't remember anything about the original Alien.

Guess I'll have to go watch it sometime:thumbsup:

Never seen any of those.

I've seen T3 and Alien versus Predator, but none of the movies listed. I'm not much of a movie person, I suppose.

I can understand why you have not seen the other ones if those are the only ones you have seen. Those are like the original movies without the souls.

so do you think either franchise can still be saved?

Also I didn't include it in the poll, but Predator is way better than Predator 2. There was a lot of promise for 2 but I just didn't enjoy it for some reason.
