Which Voodoo5 is better--AGP or PCI?

Hi--

I've already built a bx system using an Asus CUBX Board, and I'm planning on using a CPU that will support 133mhz FSB (Either by default or by o/c)

I know that AGP speeds will be strongly out of spec for vid cards of that sort, I already have a Voodoo3 2000 PCI in it now, and I was looking to possibly upgrade to a Voodoo5 sometime soon;

My question is, is there a strong difference between the PCI and AGP flavors of the Voodoo5 5500?

I'm looking at getting the PCI version, unless I'm not going to see a strong performance boost.

Thanks for any input, in advance.

Same difference. The Voodoo line of cards does not use the AGP bus at all. Even though the marketing monkeys put AGP 4X on the box doesn't mean that it can do AGP.

If you want to run multi-monitor then by all means get a V5 5500 AGP along side that V3. You simply save yourself a PCI slot by going with AGP.

Then generally the benchmarks (which only go so far, I know :D) between AGP and PCI ought to be the same as well?

Though I suppose it's been that way since the Banshee, if not further. :D

Thanks.

Voodoo5 5500 PCI Review.

The AGP version is slightly faster at the highest resolutions. Generally speaking if you can get the AGP version do so, but don't worry if you have to get the PCI version instead.
