Sunrocket is definitely in Atlanta. What exchange are you trying to get service in? If you are talking about Atlanta proper you can use these exchanges to sign up (and 911 will work just fine for you):

Local CLEC: Global Crossings

404-592-xxxx
404-795-xxxx
404-921-xxxx
404-935-xxxx

Lcoal CLEC: Level 3

404-975-xxxx

Atlanta is an easy signup. If you live in any of the suburbs let me know and I can check on other exchanges.

Guys,

I got the Sunrocket package the other day and set everything up according to the instructions (cable modem-crossover cable-"gizmo"-straight cable-router-straight cable-switch-straight cable-computer) and the phonline itself seems to work fine. However, the internet connection appears to be dropping out intermittently and very frequently. Does anyone have an explanation for this or a way to remedy it?

PS: My line tests as 4.75mps/916kbps, QOS: 74%

hi igobyte-

The best setup to use with Sunrocket is modem -> router -> gizmo. With some cable modems the QoS works "too good," in other words, too much priority is given to the IP phone and drained away from the actual internet connection. Just put the gizmo behind the router and you'll be fine as for phone calls and internet.

The reason it is not documented as the preferred method for connection is that SR did not want to open themselves up to service calls for lots of different router brands. Since it usually works fine either way it is not that big of an issue. In your case, however, the modem brand gets into a fistfight with the gizmo for bandwidth, so separating the two gives you the peace you are hoping for this Christmas season. :)

Merry Christmas
