Which video processor is better???

Im considering getting either a PS3 or a Samsung BD-P1400... How do I know which, if the price were the same, has the better video processor for Bluray? Does anyone know? Thanks

I would rather think PS3 is better as it is more scalable and future-proof w/ upgradable firmware. Do you like to play games in the long run? By looking at the comparison chart at the secret home theater, the PS3 was reviewed when it first came out with original firmware which was not allowing DVD to upscale to 1080p. However, with the latest original firmware, PS3 can do that and even more with DiVX and xVID. Plus, who knows you can even watch downloaded HD contents in the future with the PS3? So, my point is PS3 is a better choice for a better all-around entertainer, unless you are looking for something specific. My .02.

I would go with the PS3 also. For the price, it's the best all around media device in the BR realm (and offers the best future compatibility).

Personally, I would limit my attention to either the PS3 or the Panasonic DMP-BD30K.

Or there will be a wide range of new models from many different manufacturers over the next couple months.

PS3 is also one of the best upconverting DVD players around, if that is important to you. The PS3 also won every Blu-ray comparison I've seen - but those were all a little while ago so I don't know if any newer players trump it.

But it's definitely a can't-go-wrong choice.

at this point, you shouldn't consider any player but the PS3. I find that with the updates and when standing vertically, there aren't significant noise issues.

Just a heads up, but the PS3 runs LOUD. I'm guessing louder than a stand-alone player.

Mine's inaudible, even right next to it.
Same with mine. I have a 60GB. The 40GB are even quieter.
