I'm purchasing a video card at the end of January for the MMORPG Darkageofcamelot and I was wondering if I should buy a Radeon 9500 pro or a Radeon 9700.. if my cpu would become the bottleneck for the card... currently, im using a 1600 xp athlon with 512 RAM... or should I wait for the Geforce FX to come out so prices would drop? Should I purchase a Geforece 4200 instead? Thanks for the opinions

Hey dreamchaser,

Personally I would go with the 9700 pro - especially if you dont plan to buy another card for some time. This way you get DirectX 9 support. (Of course only the newest games coming out will support this, but at least you will be ready for it.)

Also, my answer depends on the resolution that you game at. If you like to stick to higher resolutions (like 1600x1200) then the 9700 pro will have a more noticeable edge. But on the other hand, if you dont need higher resolutions, and you only plan to play that one game, save yourself some money and go with the cheapest card - the Geforce4 4200.

ATi R350-ATI's answer to the geforce FX
ATi RV350-the value edition of ATI's R350

"PowerVR Series 5-might be named Kyro 4???who knows???"

They are scraping the name Kyro.

"Trident p0wns J000!!!!!!!!"

Heh, they should stick to 2d cards. :D
Of course, nothing wrong with having another comptetitor. If only Ati and Nvidia are battling it out, it could get ugly and prices could get up to $1000.
