Hi, I am looking to upgrade my video card so that I can play BF1942 (only game I play) with all the settings maxed out 1024x768. I currently have a GF3 ti200 and it is just not cutting it anymore. The thing is that I would like to find a video card for around $100 that will do this but so many models have been released since my last upgrade. So, what do you peeps think? How about:

--ATi Radeon 9100 128MB?

--Nvidia ti4200 128MB?

Comp setup:

-- AMD Athlon XP 2000+
-- 1GB Mushkin PC2700

Need any more info?

You see where I am getting at? My only requirement is that I need a 128MB card. Please LMK what ya think. :)

For $100, I'd get the ti4200. I hear that BF1942 needs a lot of ram too. How much are you packing?

The R9200 is an AGP 8X capable version of the Radeon 9000, which is in itself little more then a slightly cut down Radeon 8500/9100. It is not DirectX9 compliant.

The Radeon 9500 and up are ATi's DX9 compliant graphics cards.

tho it would be nice to know the rest of ur setup, i think both video cards will more than suit your needs.

so it basically comes down to a matter of preference and $$$. :)

Okay, but several 9200 at Newegg are being listed as DX9 compliant.

The 9000 and 9200 support DirectX 8.1 features

The 9100 is a rebadged 8500 core and it supports DirectX 8.1 features and is not built by ATI.

The 9500/9500 Pro support DirectX 9.0 features

Sorry guys about the lack of details, I updated the main thread. I just slapped 1 GB of Mushkin PC2700 in it and it is much faster in everything. :)

So, how about a Radeon 9000 Pro? What performs on par with the ti4200 from ATi?

What??

Chack out Tom's VGA charts, Radeon9000 PRO, places itself below GF3 Ti200 and just above GF4MX in UT2003 benchmarks. And take a look at any GF4 Ti how do you like that? :)

EDIT: I know ATI is popular nowdays, come on! It's not the GFX segment, best from ATI for you is Radeon 9500 PRO - even if it's already getting old.
