I just bought Duron 1.3 like 3 or 4 months ago. Upgraded from 700 Mhz. Too early for me to buy blazing fast CPU.

true fanboy eh?

so you never told us your budget..

probably pretty low since you have a duron...

i'd say an 8500LE if you want ati.. or 9100 only costs like $67 at newegg...

9100 is a renamed 8500le

my bro has a 8500le in his duron 1.1ghz setup, runs most games rather well (r63, ut2k3, splinter cell) though not at the max of details. and to be honest, im happy with the 8500le i have in my main rig (though i hope to upgrade to 95/9600 pro sometime this summer)

newegg has the 9100 128 for around 80, seems like a good buy. though, yesterday they had a gf4 4200 for 90, which for 10 dollars more was an even better deal...anyone agree? the 4200 should blow the 9100 out of the water, extra memory aside.

the 9000 isnt quite as good as the 8500le/9100

I know you like ATI and all, but with your system set up, A GF3 or GF4 would be perfect. Why would you waste money on a old ATI product? The ATI 9000 line is great, but with your system a 9500 pro would be either too costly or just plain overkill. The ATI 8000 line is sub-par with the GF4's. Why would you want to invest in a product ATI abandoned a long time ago? I think just sticking with ATI just because you like their name is arrogant.

You are extremely cutting your choices slim by just sticking with ATI with a 1.4 Duron with generic RAM.

Ok Ok Ok if I remember correctly if I decided to go with GeForce, the ATI driver and folder might have troubling remove from the hard drive causing GeForce go bad between drivers.

And you Regs I do believe you are die hard GeForce lover, right? :D

1 out of 6 people might of had driver issues, but that is noticed with almost every other piece of hardware installed. Just because someone else did not do a clean install of their OS, or because their OS is tangled in bad data, does not mean you will have the same problems. Don't be afraid of what a few people might experience.

As for me being a die hard nvidia fan, no. I bought my GF4 for 110 dollars and get 12,000+ marks with it for a bargain. I would of had to spend 180 for a 9500 pro which would of improved performance somewhat with filters on 4x.

If I had the money to waste for a product I don't need, I would of spent 400 dollars on the 9800 pro all ready. The GF4 was the best choice for me.

Today I went to Fry's store to buy new hard drive and at same time I went to look around video card...I looked at ATI 9200 and GeForce MX440 and Ti4200....the price is under 200.00 if I remember correctly...Now what is better mx440 or ti4200?
It is hard decision for me....

I was reading anand's review on some of video cards I really like Radeon 9500 Pro but I have not see one at the store. My guess is that 9500 pro is gone for good?

You may have to see if the store can order one for you. From what I hear on this site is that they stopped production of the 9500 pro completely. So you might want to order it online if the store cannot order one for you. The 9500 pro is a good choice if you want to spend the little extra cash. Then for 50 dollars you can get youself a AMD 1700+ or 1800+ . Hoping that your mobo supports the 266 bus.
