Which version of the EVGA GTX 970 is the one to get?

This one is currently on sale for $300. But it seems the FTW+ or SSC ACX 2.0+ are better versions. Are the changes that were made worth the price difference? What is the difference between ACX 2.0 and 2.0+?

2.0+ is the latest version. It's a touch better than the acx2.0 cooler.

Yes, those two are the two newest revisions of the cards. Supposedly they are quieter than the previous version as the fan does not as frequently or as high. It's the result of of how the cooler makes contact with the gpu. Before the gpu merely made contact with a portion of tubes, the + model uses a plate to ensure better heat dissipation.

Alright thanks. That's what I was looking for.

Get the SSC if you have to get an EVGA card, it has much better power delivery than the 297*-KR cards. I have an SC 2974-KR and it has been crashing on Witcher 3 at factory clocks even when I have my fans cranked up to keep the core below 65C. I was getting some crashes in intense fights in Dragon Age Inquisition too (particularly against this one type of enemy that jumps around and shoots ice when I'm trying to close a rift with a bunch of other enemies around). And the overclocking on my 2974-KR is terrible, the highest settings that don't crash my games other than Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition are +51 MHz core, +0 MHz mem, +15mv vcore.

Wow that is a rough overclocker. I can push my memory +500 no problem. It makes a pretty big difference even at 1080p.

The SSC should have been the card they released from the start. I'm still kicking myself for not stepping up to an SSC (they had just come out right around the time I bought the SC) once I found out my SC wasn't a good overclocker.

I've got a regular 970 FTW. (not a FTW+ version). I've been happy with it. Breezes through BF4 ultra settings 1080p. Haven't tried overclocking it.

I stepped up to the ftw+ from the ssc when the new cooler came out, really happy I did. Was getting a crash during high performance, and I was not happy with the off again on again fans. The 2.0+ coolers OC cooling mode offers continuous fans but it never gets loud because it cools so good.
