Which version of PowerDVD to install?

I got a copy of PowerDVD 3.0, full version with my Hercules GTXP soundcard. The skinny on it is that the full version includes software decoding of 5.1 sound on DVD's. I've always used it without complaint. However, I just clicked the wrong option to a dialog in PowerDVD and couldn't figure out a way to undo the "damage," so I uninstalled it.

I'm wondering if I should install 3.0 again or install the PowerDVD version 4.0 I got with one of my Liteon CDRW drives. In the readme it says PowerDVD XP 4.0. Would this version of PowerDVD not be a "full" version and not include the 5.1 decoding? Or is that a Lite version? Thanks for any info on this.

OEM versions that come with drives usually only support stereo sound and give you the option to buy the 5.1 upgrade. If 3.0 worked well for you, just reinstall that.

Very cool. Thanks for the info.

I think I have version 4.0 and if you plan on using TV out then I would recommend an older version. 4.0 would give me an error when trying to play saying that it will not run while TV out is enabled. Stupid fvcking copyright B.S.

Geez. I don't think I've had that problem with the newer versions (XP and 5.0).
