Which version of McAfee does Comcast offer?

I'm currently running with AVG and I've been happy with it. But since AV comparatives gives McAfee a better rating I'm willing to give it a shot since I get it for free as long as I'm a Comcast sub. However I really don't want to bother if it's the bloated Home version as opposed to the Enterprise version. Anybody happen to know? Yes I did search for this before I posted.

VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i is an excellent enterprise antivirus program, but if you're looking for a lightweight antivirus program, that's not the one to pick. Just fully configuring it involves about 25 panels of options and IIRC the "footprint" is about 40MB+ without the ePolicy Orchestrator Agent. And the performance impact is noticeable. However, the lack of viruses, worms, Trojans, adware, spyware, hack tools, joke/unwanted programs, and undefended exploits is noticeable too

To clarify, VS Enterprise doesn't get in your face and play drama queen like the home stuff does, but it can drag the system down quite a bit if it's got all the bells & whistles turned on.

Eh 40MB isn't too bad really. Still want to know what I'm getting though since McAfee's site doesn't really state which it is.

I doubt an ISP would give away an Enterprise version, but hey, I may be wrong.

:thumbsup: for VSE 8. Takes up about 40-50MB usually, as mech says.

Comcast doesn't give it away. They use it on your account. I have the same thing from Nationwide - they monitor all my email - filter spam and use McAfee AV. I have my own AV backup on my system, but it is like the proverbial Maytag repairman - never gets any work to do.

I see it as defense in depth. 1st line - the ISP. 2nd Line - Mailwasher Pro on my system. 3rd Line, My own AV program.

Cork, I'm not sure you are right - there is software installed on my PC from McAfee that I downloaded from Comcast's site for free...it's a complete AV solution on my machine - we aren't talking about whatever Comcast uses on their servers.

That's interesting. I have Comcast Cable - but I don't use it for email - except as SMTP for outgoing. I'll check into it and see if I can get a download - I just never bothered because they use it on my mailbox and so does my mail ISP.

I have Viruscan 10 installed - it works quietly behind the scenes, and if it weren't for the auto updates every week, I wouldn't know it was there.
