Which Version of DVDXCopy?

Which version of the Platnium has the ripper, and which version does not?

Maybe there is a better program then DVDXCopy. I hear a lot about DVD Shrink. Which backup programs will back up anything? Is DVDXCopy the only one to battle in court over the copy protection issue? I need recommendations on which software to get. I already have Nero 6. I could not backup Lord of the Rings. It said it was copy protected? Any thoughts on the matter?

I believe DVD X Copy v3.2.1 is a version that is full featured prior to the court ordered cease and desist.

DVDXCopy is a rip-off. You should in no event be spending good money for it. DVDShrink is great---it can rip (and remove copy protection), re-encode and burn (using Nero). It's all I use.

So, if I get DVD Shrink and Nero Burning Rom (I have Nero 6.3.X.X), this is all I will need? I will be able to make a backup of anything that has come out so far?

Is DVD SHrink Free? Will it make a disk to disk backup?

Yes, that is all that you need to make simple backups.

If you do a full backup (not a re-author), I suggest compressing your titles and extras so that the movie is the highest quality possible.

As I said, there is decent how-to at MrBass.org. I suggest you start there. I'm thinking about doing a write-up on how to do different levels of compression using DVDShrink.

I have DVD shrink and the newest version of nero with all the plugins, what is DVDcryptor used for? Does it do the same as DVD Shrink basically? I have read that people use DVD Shrink and DVDCryptor to burn movies. This is all new to me as well, I get the basic concepts of everything. Just wondering the above info. Thanks everyone!!
