Which vendors support flicking the AUSUM switch on the HD6990 (besides XFX)?

And if you read the AMD warranty it also says overclock voids warranty.

But then you buy a Sapphire card and Sapphire will let you Overclock your card using the CCC and/or the ATI Tool if CCC is not available without voiding the warranty.

Again, the AMD position about the warranty is irrelevant for the consumer since the consumer will deal with the AIB warranty. The AIB and AMD problems don't concern the consumer.

And none of the cards I see on the newegg show the sticker. Where is that picture from?

Went to the page on the sticker, www.amd.com/6990support It's a warning that your system might not support a 450W graphics card. It's a disclaimer for AMD to not be liable for possible damage caused to your system from running the 6990 @ 450W. What I take from it is they need to warn you because they have exceeded the pci-e specs.

It's the 6990 urban myth! It does not state warranty void if removed on either the sticker or on AMD's site as of right now....I wouldn't worry about flipping the switch if I bought a 6990. Of course if I did buy one I'd have to remove the sticker anyways to put on a full water block.

I could see if the AIB's decided to put a warranty void if remove sticker on it in place of the Warning sticker then it would be as the urban myth states.

The switch is covered by a scary big, yellow sticker which basically tells you that switching the BIOS will void your warranty.
During production AMD does a "bootup" test at the overclocked settings, but they do not guarantee stability of the card in this mode.

Update: After publication of this article there's been some slight confusion on the matter of the AWSUM switch and the warranty. AMD's official guidance is that overclocking the card voids the warranty, which means that AWSUM/uber mode is warranty breaking. Technically speaking just flipping the switch doesn't break the warranty - it's operating the card that does - but retail cards will come with a sticker over the switch warning users of the potential danger of overclocking and that it violates the warranty. So breaking the sticker to flip the switch will for all practical purposes violate the warranty. Specific policies may differ by partner, however.

So I guess what your saying is if a 6990 comes without the sticker on it then the warranty would be voided as soon as the box is opened.

Or are you saying whomever at Newegg took the photos thought the sticker looked tacky and removed it.

Exactly, it does not say "warranty void if removed". Which is what some would like you to believe.

I see that the Gigabyte has it on the 360º view.

The others (XFX, HIS and Powercolor) don't though.

In systems with inadequate power supplies or multi-rail PSUs that don't provide enough current on each rail. Provided enough power it will work.

Its funny that you have a problem with vague warranty coverage that isn't even that vague, but you have no problem with card killing drivers or card where the OCP has the chance of not working and frying your card.

If your attempting to nit pick , even in that context I called it yellow tape. With a 'void' in quotes, I have links to 2 reviewers who bring up , the whole void warranty issue surrounding it.
Again, I never wrote that was written on the yellow tape, and twice I've shown EXACTLY with a picture what is on the tape.

Really? I've only seen a press release by one, a forum post that claims two others, and an article that claims another. Yet no quotes from those AIBs mentioned, except XFX of course. I guess we can just speculate that they are all true?

Hopefully owners that have trouble will post back in this thread there experiences. I believe the MSI 6990 newegg owner feedback has 2 or 3 owners experiencing system instabilities. Those are brand new and should be exchanged.

I think its obvious the AIBs that support OC/OV will also cover AWSUM don't you?
