The card you buy, from Neweggs pictures, show the 6990 have the yellow sticker over the switch. It tells you to read the owner's manual and directs you to AMD' 6990 warranty.
I guess some will treat this like the Mattress or pillow tag :
"do not remove"

And if you read the AMD warranty it also says overclock voids warranty.
But then you buy a Sapphire card and Sapphire will let you Overclock your card using the CCC and/or the ATI Tool if CCC is not available without voiding the warranty.
Again, the AMD position about the warranty is irrelevant for the consumer since the consumer will deal with the AIB warranty. The AIB and AMD problems don't concern the consumer.
And none of the cards I see on the newegg show the sticker. Where is that picture from?
