Core i3-540 (stock cooler, no OC)
4GB Corsair DDR3 1,333Mhz RAM
ASUS P7P55D mobo
Samsung F3 500GB HDD
MSI Cyclone GTX460 768MB (overclocked with afterburner)

I play BlackOps, SCII, BadCompany II at 1920.

I have several options lined up to bring this realy up to speed, get rid of any systems snags... I'd like to hear advise from experienced people first though.

I don't care about budget much... I can stagger my purchases.

Thanks!

Well if you can stagger your purchases...

1. Rubycon's array of six 160GB X25-M's in RAID 0 on an Areca ARC 1800.
2. GTX 580 in tri-SLI.
3. Dual Xeon X5680's
4. 96GB RAM

Hehe nice... Big Bleach fan here too.

Anyway I have an OCZ Vertex2 SSD in my shopping basket already.
Only issue remainign for me is that I have an OEM version of W7 and I'm not sure I'll be able to re-install safely, I'll do some research.

I was also considering getting rid of the core i3 and getting an i5-760, but I don't think this may be needed after the SSD upgrade...

Shoulda got the i5 760 like I originally suggested. 😉 I believe that I warned you that this day would come very soon.

Get the SSD before you do anything crazy though. You can definitely reinstall the OEM version.

I don't live in the US and it's about 180 euros in EU.

The processor will really be the last update I make... I don't think I need any more RAM, so it's only if I still want a snappier system with my SSD. My old laptop had a 5,400 rpm HDD, a core2duo 2Gz and 2GB of RAM and hell, that seems to have been enough, so it's more a case of 'because I can' than real necessity..!
