2xSSTRAA for FEAR
16xAF for all

of course....max settings in every game, and HQ set in drivers

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ @ 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, GeForce 7800GTX 256MB @ 500/1350MHz...

Res: 1280x1024
AA: 4x
AF: 8x

Games all look gorgeous...

Yeah, I selected 4xAF, but messed up. Thought I was choosing AA. So let me just write everything down.

4xAA + 16xAF + 1024x768 + 7800GT =

That's BS.

That's awesome, how are those opterons anyways?

They're great. It's basically a more mature 4400X2. I'm using a scythe ninja with a low speed 120mm fan and it's quite stable. I'm getting a Swiftech Apex kit soon so we'll see how it goes. Mainly that's just to keep the tempreature lower so the cpu lasts for 18-24 months or so like I want it to.

4x AA
8x AF
1600x1200 (or 1280x960 for newer titles my video card can't handle @ 1600x1200)

X850XT PE

Where is the TRAA? Thats what I use whenever I can. 4xTRAA.

But you get more game at 1680x1050 than 1600x1200.

Bastard I hate you!!!

I am going to try overclocking my 3800 X2 higher today in light of the new article.

🙂

Anyone use the trasnparency antialiasing?

Depends on the games I use, rig in sig...

UT2K4: 4xAA and 16xAF because its an easy game to make look beautiful without the heavy FPS loss
BF2: 2xAA 0XAF even though i could probably turn up the AF, i've never tried though
Fear: 0xAA 0xAF because this system just cant handle it, even with all the in game settings on medium
COD2: 2xAA 0xAF and thats just on the demo, i'll be getting the full version for Christmas, so I might turn it to 2xAF or 4xAF
Quake 4: 0xAA 0xAF because it's hard enough to play that game on medium settings with 512mb RAM

Accidentally picked 4xS, when I meant to just pick 4x AA. I play at 10x7 in all newer games, and use 4x/8x in HL2. Anything else that is new I play at 0x/8x. All older games I do 4x/8x at 1280x960.

Dont worry, he doesnt get good frames in any new games with that setting.

You could print out pictures of the game, and flip them like the old movie, and have more fps than he gets.

Ohh dis-respekt!!! Haha. Are you going to take this caz67? 😉

My settings will probably vary from game to game, but so far the only game I've seriously configured on my new rig is Half-Life 2. At 1024x768, I found chain link fences to look fairly crappy until I enabled 8xS AA, so that's what I've stuck with. I think I'm running 8xAF but I should probably bump it up to 16x. This is with a 7800 GT.

Its not disrespectful, its the truth. There is no PC out today that can run 1920x1200, 8xAA, 16xAF and full everything, and get any sort of good frames, in any sort of new game.

0xAA...I guess I just don't care about jaggies much. I've tried it on...but I honestly don't notice much difference. I guess I just don't feel its worth the pretty big performance hit. 8xAF...performance hit isn't to bad and textures DO look blurry sometimes.

I'm still running 1024x768! I don't want to get carried away with the resolutions and end up buying video cards constantly.

6800nu.

in project 64 (nintendo 64 emulator), you can set options for AA and AF. 4xFSAA and 8xS for AF. zelda ocarina of time looks awesome!

in star wars episode 1 racer, i set AF to 8x, AA doesnt work in that game...

btw, i cant run AA or AF in any modern game, only warcraft 3 and below it will run decently and smoothly...>.<

edit: all under 1280x1024...

Not ture. The jaggies are very noticable in CS:S, FEAR and BF2 even at 1920x1200. BF2 being the worst.
