I have 3 TV's to choose from, a toshiba or a samsung. Or i can go balls out and buy the 30" samsung slim.

Quick differences.

Toshiba has auto upscaling, Samsung does not
Toshiba is 1080I/540p, Samsung is 1080i/720p

30" Samsung slim has HDMI, digital audio, progressive digital upscaling and 1080i/720p, and build in HDtuner.

Toshiba

Will cost me 799.00 CND - 15% (Roommates Sears Discount)

Samsung

Will cost me 799.00 CND - 20% (Wal-Mart ass appreciation day)

SlimFit

Will end up costing about $950 CND after discounts. (Roommates Bestbuy discount)

I'd go with the SlimFit. Regular HD widescreen CRT TV's are huge! The SlimFit seems tiny compared to the comparable models and the picture is awesome. I think LG makes a "slim fit" model too.

Sony not an option? Then go w/ Samsung. I would trust them over Orion.

Its a good idea to get HDMI in any HDTV because it gives you the best odds of HD-DVD compatability down the road... aside from that the Toshiba is the best quality of the three, but no 720p kinda sucks... you might want to find a TV that has both HDMI & is capable of 720p, like the Sony CRT HDTV's.

I saw a whole batch of HDTVs lined up at Costco and after checking color, skin tone, and sharpness; the Sharp Widescreen came in first but the Samsung came in second, but first in best value for the buck. My recommendation is Samsung Slim.

i'm going to have to recommend sony too.

30 " Wide xs955 will run abou $900. HDMI, OTA HD tuner built in, great sony black levels and just an awesome tv overall.
