I believe that getting dual core would probably benefit me more, but for now i just want opinions. I pretty much just play bf2 and surf the internet, but sometimes i burn cd's while im playing ect. I dont really lag in bf2 i just stutter a bit, so probably getting dual core would be a better choice. Opinions would be great, thanks

I vote for a CPU upgrade.

Options are:
1) Core 2 Quad
2) Core 2 Duo (if you can't afford #1)
3) Pentium D (if you can't afford #2)

few things:

i don't think your mobo ultra-d in your sig supports X2

your sig does not specify what kind and how much ram you have <---because it may be one upgrade that your oc'ed 3700/x1800xt may benefit

the ultra-d doesn't support x2? i always thought it did...u learn a new thing every day.

if your mobo supports X2, go for it.

i'm assuming u were looking in the $300+ range assuming you have a pretty good gpu as it is. i would go with C2D in your situation.

i vote for a cpu upgrade. get a quick and easy A64 X2 4600 or something that u can afford
at your monitor's resolution 1280x1024, i don't see a reason to upgrade the x1800xt, it should handle any game out today without a problem.

Agreed. Grab the 4600+ keep the X1800XT. The X1800XT is plenty for today's games.

with the exception of a few, but who needs games at the absolute top settings anyway, gameplay is what its all about.

Thanks for all the quick replies. I have 2 gigs of g skill ram, the red ones i forgot what model it was, but i thought that the ultra d does support dual core, i guess thats old news though, ill double check on it. I was thinking to get denmark the 170 series i heard those are pretty good overclockers for dual core. Any opinions?

the ultra-d does support x2. just upgrade the CPU and do a BIOS update and you should be perfectly fine
