I would keep the XT for two reasons:
As of right now, the only game you'll lose out on with ATI is D3. Oh darn.
And with the XT you don't have to deal with the broken VPU on the 6800's. It is a pain in the ass, so take my advice and avoid it.

Well, I got a smokin deal on the BFG, and was hoping to make a few bucks off it. But doesn't look like there are many buyers looking for this, and 20-30 bucks ain't much to make. So, a friend may end up taking it off my hands for what I paid.

It's so tempting tho, that I have to leave it at my desk at work....to keep from installing it at home.

Personally, I'd keep the 6800U not because it's better (they are neck and neck with minor nods to the XT) but because the XT is still commanding a very high price since the availability sucks. eBay it and walk away a richer man.

I disagree with this for four reasons:
1. A stock X800XT is slower than a stock BFG 6800U OC at many benches, not just Doom.
2. Where does the OP say he will use this card for any kind of video at all? Why would the "broken" VPU be a pain in the ass to anyone who doesn't use it? Beyond that, I have a similar system to his and I get the same cpu utilization on the ever popular SIL trailer with my X800 XT PE as I got with my 6800GT- how am I ahead for video with the XT PE?
3. There will be other FPS games with the D3 engine.
4. Supposedly there will be SM3 patches to LOTR, Vampire, and Painkiller. There already is one for Far Cry.

These cards are equal enough to not care much either way, but I'd still give the nod to a stock OCd 6800U over a 500/500 X800XT. "Reaching XT PE speeds easily" and running it out of spec and warranty for months at a time to reach the performance level of a card you already own doesn't make sense to me.

There's the Rollo I've come to know! :D;)

OC'd or not, they are close enough that the deciding factor for me is that I can get more for the Ultra, and I prefer the single slot design of the XT. I used to have a SFF, and find myself thinking about going that route again sometimes. Should I ever decide to go for it, the XT would still work.
