Hi-
I just got a new ABIT KT7-RAID board and Athlon T-bird 1.2 GHz (may try to overclock). After much reading and review, I have narrowed my cooling choice (Socket A) to either a Taisol, a mini chrome orb, or an Alpha PAL6035 w/ Sanyo Denki fan.
My question is, if I were to choose the Taisol (looks good b/c it's very quiet), which one do I want? There's the:
CEK733092
CEK734092
CGK742092
The CGK742 is the newest and the most expensive. And i hear it's great. It's got the forged heatsink and uses all 3 clips on both sides, which the others don't. Yet, it's NOT AMD approved. Why not? Does this matter?
The CEK733 and 734 are much cheaper than the CGK742 (about 1/3 the cost and 1/2 the cost of the CGK742, respectively). And they are also AMD Approved. I have been hearing good things about the CGK742 with the forged HS, but is it that much better to warrant that much more money? And what's up with it not being AMD approved? The 733 is only $11, the 734 is $22, and the 742 is $33-39. (Tthere's also the Big Voodoo Daddy, but i haven't heard much about it).
So any help with the Taisols would be great. (Or should I say the hell with them and get a mini chrome orb or something?)
Thanks a lot in advance!
