Sure it's obvious when you're about 3 inches from the screen taking macro pictures. I dare say that most people, in fact I'll even up it to almost everybody, will not look at a TF101-class DPI and go "ZOMG TEH PIXALS R BLINDING ME".

When people are still putting up with 15" 1366x768 displays without much fuss, there's no point in pointing out the differences in those two displays to the average person.

Actually I had a personal experience with the issue..I was comparing a Nexus 7 and an ipad 2 a few months ago, trying to decide which to keep.

The ipad 2 screen rez was so poor compared to the Nexus 7 I realized I wouldn't be happy with an ipad without a retina screen, so I kept the Nexus 7.

Screen rez with tablets is more critical than with a laptop, at least in my experience a tablet is held closer to my eyes than a laptop.
