if you like fps, get a computer

i disagree, i like fps and would play any game on Xbox360 over pc.

really? why?

im at a computer 8 hours a day at work. the last place i want to be is at a computer at home. plus my pc hasnt been upgraded in about 5 years and i don't plan on upgrading any time soon, no need to. it's a lot more convenient to game on a console.

and i like to play on my 50" DLP lounging on my couch, not slouched over at a desk on a 19" monitor. i also like to be able to get any new game and just pop it in and play w/in 2 minutes and not have to change any settings. i also don't have any friends who play pc games at all so gaming on xbox live is a lot more fun than gaming on a pc with random people all the time.

the list could go on.

Honestly, I'd prefer Resistance and Warhawk over Halo 3 and Bioshock. No offense to the Live people, but I am not enjoying my Halo 3 online experience. Too laggy, too long to get into games, no dedicated servers, etc. Plus, none of my friends own 360s. The PSN has always been relatively lag free for me, plus every online game I've played (limited selection, though) has had good dedicated servers. Plus, it's free (Hey, it does what I want...I grew up playing games online on the PC! The PSN works for me 😛). Yeah, Live doesn't cost much, though. I just can't bring myself to play Halo 3 over Warhawk (especially with the ranking system fixed). I just have more fun with my PS3. It just feels better, more smooth to me (especially the PSN, regardless of how little it may offer compared to Live).

I really wonder what the deal is there, because in over 300 games I've had less than a half dozen games with noticeable lag. And I almost always get into a game in under 30 seconds. A few times when I had a party of 3 it took a while to get into a game, but if you drop out of the party and search for a game solo it's very fast.

I really am beginning to think it is just me or my network. Live just acts wonky for me sometimes, and I dont think it helps playing Halo 3. And maybe I should try playing different game types, but what I've tried takes a long while to join a game. I like Resistance's or Warhawk's system better for getting into ranked games...much quicker, easier, and (on Warhawk) easier to get into a game you like.

But, really...I think there's some problems with my network and Live, and I don't think many other people get the same thing I do. However, I still don't like matchmaking...too slow for me. Most of the games I try to find take over two minutes to finally join and all that.

If you've got a router that supports QOS, turn that on. I'd also forward all the necessary ports for your 360 or put it in a DMZ.

So am I and I don't care. My work PC is most certainly not anything like my home PC and comparing the two is just preposterous.

In matchmaking you can hit "X" to bring up a menu to pick to sort by Best Connection, Closest Skill, or Fastest depending on what you're in the mood for.

For me it would be achievements, and being able to play the game lounging on my couch vs sitting in my computer chair.

I agree with purbeast

What about Bioshock? It was the best single player game I've played this year.

Hmm i'm goign to have to say Mario Galaxy or Ratchet and Clank is the best single player game I've played this year.

Granted I haven't finished either of them yet (for time reasons) I played Bioshock for like 2 hours and just couldn't get sucked into it so I never finished it.

I think part of the reason i like the others is cause in an industry that's swamped with FPS right now, it's a good change of pace to play these platforming games.

Bioshock's story was what really made me interested in it. A story in a game simply hasn't been presented as well as Bioshock since Deus Ex and System Shock 2.

Get the 360 if you're really interested in gaming.

Get the PS3 if you are interested in some of the other features (Blu Ray, F@H, etc.) and gaming is an option.
