Hi ,

Ive been saving and scrimping money for the last year to get to good systems that i like this is them :-

Intel System

DFI Lan Party 875PRO
Intel Pentium 4 2.6c GHz 800 FSB @ 3.5 GHz 1080 FSB [ HyperThreading Enabled ]
2 x 256mb Geil PC-3200 6 - 3 - 3 - 2
ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128mb

AMD System

DFI Lan Party nForce2 Ultra
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ [ Barton Core @ 3200+
10 x 220 @ 2200 MHz
2 x 256mb Corsair XMS PC-3200 7 - 3 - 3 - 2.5
nVidia GeForce4 MX-440 64mb

1 will be used for stroing DVD , .AVI , mp3 , etc etc basically a lot of media and browsing internet , with some work mainly MS Word and outlook express.

The other will be used for Games and games only i know i have to invest in a new GFX Card but i dont have the money just now , im still paying back [ loan ] for the P4 2.6c and the 875PRO board .

I cant really notice a big difference between them the only games that ive played on the 2 of them is :-
Quake 3 , TombRaider , Max Payne , and they all run fine.

I just dont want to accumulate a massive amount of media files on 1 system and find id be better with them on the other. and i dont really know that muc h about games ive only just bought my first games recently and i liked it so im going to use 1 for pure gaming.

any info would be great , also when i get the money , what GFX Card to buy ?

Ive spent every penny thats been in my possesion for the last say year and a half , so i want to get this right , as im not a right guy ;)

basically both systems are overkill for that and any modern 1ghz cpu would have done that.....

Basically you have one oc'd system versus a non-oc'd p4.....If you leave it as it is the barton is likely slightly faster in most all things except HT enabled programs in the multimedia area.

I would try to oc that 2.6c to say near 3.2ghz level and then the p4 is better in about everything!!!!

Crap my eyes must be tired as I swore I looked at it twiced and was amazed he wasn't overclocking it....

Oh well my mistake....

At 3.5ghz that barton cannot touch it....Vid games often are more limited by the vid card and gaming probably wont feel much different...Anything else from scientific, to rendering, to multimedia that barton should be 20+% behind...If you don't believe me go look at 3.2ghz p4 vs the barton 3200+....Throw in HT apps and it is almost laughable!!!!

Hi ,

I have just discovered a new way in life for me ... "Unreal Tournement - game of the year"... this is the first time ive ever played an online game ... it was great ... i cant stop playing it .

Are there anymore games like this i can get and play online ?

I played that game for 8 hours non stop just eating and killing .

BTW my hands are killing me , what kinda of controller or joystick are good ?

P.S I dont mind any of the systems being overkill , as i said this took me a long time to put together so i'll not be upgrading for a while , this will have to last me for at least 2 year , so im looking to the future needs as we'll ;)

well if you want to play games you have to get a good graphics card.. I would recommend ATI's 9600XT or 9800XT if you have the bucks. nVidia GF FX 5900 & 5950 ultras are very good cards too but @ DX 9.0 ATI owns the game...

Games like UT? Just wait for Half Life 2 and Doom 3.
Btw, you really can't play an FPS game with controllers or joysticks man :) Keyboard & a good mouse is all you need.

You should definately keep AMD rig for games and Intel for media since HT will own @ media stuff etc and nowadays CPU power doesn't really matter in games.. If you have a good GFX card you can play Doom 3 on a 2,4 just as smooth as in a 3gig [tested].
