You probably won`t see much D-Link equipment in a NOC. So the next best choice you have there is the SMC.

However, the performance would be negligible between the two in a home environment and probably even a fast packet paced corporate envrionment.

Actually it is not really an extra port. One port is just the uplink port which is the same port as the one next to it, but wired straight instead of X-over.

well if that port is shared with the uplink, just the the SMC, then im going to go with the SMC, i like how the ports are in front, thanks for the help!

have you noticed hat Dell's new switches look just like the SMC's?
