which switch is better?

or
Dlink 8 port +1

only advantage is the dlink has 1 extra port. but which one is better performance wise?

You probably won`t see much D-Link equipment in a NOC. So the next best choice you have there is the SMC.

However, the performance would be negligible between the two in a home environment and probably even a fast packet paced corporate envrionment.

Actually it is not really an extra port. One port is just the uplink port which is the same port as the one next to it, but wired straight instead of X-over.
