Which stat line do you suppose is more impressive?

44 w/ 15 asst.

Those assists could be worth another 30-45 points. That makes for 74-89 points that player was directly involved with.

That's more impressive.

Since points = goals + assists, I would rather have 65 than 44!

(I'm not an idiot, I know you meant basketball).

65 pts is more impressive, since this could mean 50 goals and 15 assists.

😕

People who know nothing about basketball please do not respond.

Just because we like Hockey better doesn't mean we know nothing about Basketball. Note that the OP is quite ambiguous. (Although the assumption could be made, as in my first post)

Except he thinks a goal = 1 point...

I'm guessing he's a hockey fan.

Edit: I see now that he mentioned that later.

And he's right that the OP is ambiguous.

KB: 65points - 7rebounds - 3assists
Lets pretend an assist gives your team 2 points. When comparing yourself to the other team, you are 2 points better off.

Lets assume a rebound means the opponent doesn't score. Thus, when comparing yourself to the other team, you are 2 points better off.

AI: 44 + 5*2 + 15*2 = 84.
KB: 65 + 7*2 + 3*2 = 85.

Basically, they are a dead heat. Neither stat line is really any better than the other stat line. Yes, you could argue that they aren't all 2 points, but really that is just a silly argument. Are your stats any better or worse if the player you gave the ball can't hit a 3 on that particular day? I mean, you did your job, getting the ball to a scoring teammate. What the teammate does with the ball isn't your job and shouldn't affect the interpretation of your stats.

You don't win games for assists.

Points is more significant.

1. Assists leads to baskets
2. Baskets leads to points
3. Assists helps spread the defense
4. Distorted defense leads to baskets
5. See #2
6. Assists creates tempo as much as scoring does
7. Assists leads to wins as much as individually scoring points

Example: Steve Nash, the Suns collapsed when he got injured.

Which team won, in the end in B-Ball ind. stats mean nothing at the end of the game.
All in all i would rather have my team be more along the 44/15 side of things. but every teams has role players, AI's role is to score and spread things out get his team mates involved, because he actually has talent around him. Kobe has no talent around him so his job is to get as many points as possible.
