My Crucial M4 128GB does. I've heard that the Vertex 3 does, and I'd imagine most comparable SF drives do as well . . .

Any SATA 6g drive with proper controller and drivers Id imagine. The fastest drives no contest are Sandforce 2281 drives with sync or toggle NAND. Also generally 256GB class drives are at the peak of the bell curve as far as scaling NAND channels. Faster than 128 due to filling all channels (depending on design and NAND config), but unlike 512+ which only adds lookup table complexity after all channels are filled.

Good info thanks.

Im waiting for a 320GB , they dont have any ssds at that size, its always 300GB ,,, really 280gb after the way windoz handles ,, If I had the money my next purchase is a 400 to 500 dollars. Whats best in that cat.. thx I need more size cuz all my stuff will be on it,, and I might add another 120GB ssd for audio usage.. thx

Even most(maybe even all?) sata2 SSD at larger 200+ GB capacity points will score 7.9 due to the decent enough sequential/ramdom performance.

In the end though?.. who the hell really cares about such a useless metric from such a flaky benchmark which happens to be run automatically every week. IMO, it's typically only the peen's really give a crap about what those numbers show anyways.

the crucial M4 256GB SSD gets 7.9
I've just intalled it on my P9X79 pro board on the intel controller.

Yeah, my Crucial M4 128GB also hits 7.9. Was 7.6 when it was in IDE mode, but went up to 7.9 after enabling AHCI.

My M4 128 does, though I just got this mobo from RMA so new OS install certainly helps. Even if the score stays the same over time, I'm not sure just how indicative WEI really is or real performances.

I am pretty sure, there is a fix to that. Apparently, it is a big deal for some people ;-p

2 x 256gb m4's is on the shortlist for my BF upgrade later this year. I'll definitely look at something from intel and samsung if they have good deals, but it looks like crucial m4 might be down to below $1/gb by then so I think that's what I'll end up with. Let us know how yours holds up.

BTW, virtuallarry mentioned the other day that f&h was thrashing the crap out of his 30gb vertex. I don't know how other DC apps handle ssd's, but just to be safe you might want to keep them on hdd's where possible.

Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240GB on SATA2 only gets 7.8 for me, probably due to SATA2 and/or ancient Intel ICH8R. Also my OS image was migrated over from an HDD (but is sector aligned).
