Which SSD ?

So both are close on read/write/sustained write. But one has the Sandforce controller and IOPS of up to 50k, vs the OCZ at 10k. What is the big deal with IOPS ? Which one would you pick, and why ? I have 90 gig used on my C drive now. Would this be big enough ?

They both have the 1200 controller, so I'd go with the cheaper one. However, since OCZ is dropping 50 bucks from the Agility 2, I'd wait a bit and see if they do the same with the Vertex 2. It's got the tighter 4K speeds you want for the OS.

The IOPS is the best way to rate random small file write patterns. I explicitly chose a Vertex 2 for my mail/web/... server since it uses 1 file for every email and a postgreSQL DB for all the user account info and a lot of the web stuff. There was a major noticeable difference when processing mail marked as spam by the user. This process includes a lot of DB read/write so lots of small IO.

A noticeable difference from what? I'm sure your not talking about a spinning drive, but was it a straight up 1200 SF controller?
